Baby and child friendly 'staycations' in and around Somerset and surrounding counties.

20th June sees the official start of summer time - Yay! Although we’ve already had a marvellous spring with May being one of the hottest on record.

So many of us had to miss out on our planned breaks and foreign holidays due to this global pandemic we are in. And with so much uncertainty still surrounding it all, many of us won’t be going very far this year.

The government are hoping to kickstart the domestic tourism industry and are looking to reopen private holiday lets and Airbnb properties possibly in July as long as lockdown restrictions are further eased to allow people to stay overnight away from home. Fingers crossed for this!

So I’ve had a little look around for some great local ideas for a ‘Staycation’ which are all super child friendly and fairly local to Somerset.

(Some of these below are still closed at the moment until they receive further guidance from the government about opening but hopefully these will give you food for thought for when the restrictions are lifted).

  1. http://www.moorhousecampsite.co.uk/?fbclid=IwAR3flPc1t3W__RIBkKl1xH5ZpCg1lgnYLJS_GeH3LlG-YInLtOP1EKBr8wU - This family run business is on the beautiful Quantock hills and they like the camping to be informal with a festival feel. The large level pitching field has a big sand pit and wooden climbing frame right in the middle so the children can be seen from wherever you are camped in the field. There are also two eco-friendly cabin Pods for ‘Glamping’ if that’s more your thing. (Dog friendly)

  2. https://www.floscottages.co.uk/content/about-flos-cottages-east-coker - In an idyllic setting close to Yeovil, they offer accommodation in a cosy cottage or a little barn and have an indoor heated pool which little ones will love.

  3. https://www.middlestonefarm.com/babies--toddlers.html - This working organic farm is on the edge of Exmoor National Park with six safari tents, a cabin and a stable conversion cottage.  The glamping has private hot tubs, firepits, hammocks, barbecues and wood burning stoves.

  4. https://pitchperfectcamping.co.uk/the-campsite - Located in the village of Woolverton, just on the outskirts of Frome and Bath, this is a very family friendly campsite and is for tents and small campervans only. (Dog friendly)

  5. https://www.knowle-farm.co.uk - With child friendly cottages to hire in South Devon with an indoor pool, indoor play area and lots of friendly animals!

If you own or know of a local baby friendly place to stay, drop me a message and I can add it to this list.
